Neapolitan pizza in Ancoats

This is where it all began. We opened our very first pizzeria on Cotton Street in 2015, right by Cutting Room Square and among the independent bars and restaurants of Ancoats. The area was once known as Manchester’s Little Italy, home to generations of Italian families, so it felt like the natural place to start. Over a decade on, we still do things the same way: traditional methods, the best Italian ingredients and dough made fresh every day.

Whether it’s a quick lunch in town or dinner with friends, book your table and come and say ciao where it all started.

Where Rudy’s began

Rudy’s started with a simple idea: make Neapolitan pizza the traditional way, with the best Italian ingredients. It all began right here in Ancoats. Our dough is made fresh every day and slowly proved for up to 24 hours, then topped with San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte and baked in a hot oven. It’s the same method we use in every Rudy’s today. If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant in Ancoats, this is the one that started it all.

Ancoats - Manchester's Little Italy

In the 1800s, Italian families settled in Ancoats and the area became known as Manchester’s Little Italy. Many of them went on to build Britain’s ice cream trade, and in 2021 a plaque on George Leigh Street officially marked the neighbourhood’s Italian heritage. So when we were looking for somewhere to open our first pizzeria in 2015, Ancoats was the obvious choice. It’s still our home today.
